Azalea japonica "Aladdin Scout"

to order

Japanese azaleas are a very popular addition to our gardens. While in Japan they grow into large, large shrubs, they grow significantly smaller in our continental dry climate. They are low maintenance and usually bloom very abundantly from mid to late spring.

The cultivar "Aladdin Scout" is a hybrid Kurume azalea (Kurume azaleas come from the mountains of the island of Kyushu. They have large flowers but are more resistant to frost than hybrids from Indian species). Its large flowers have a very specific red color. It blooms very abundantly at the turn of May and June. The shrub is completely filled with flowers. Evergreen leaves are medium-sized, dark green, oval, slightly glossy. The shape is slightly rounded and grows moderately fast in all directions.

Requirements: It needs light, acidic, very permeable and preferably constantly moist (but not wet) earth, rich in iron and phosphorus. In order to maintain the soil moisture, it is best to have them constantly mulched. The peninsula is ideal for them. Fertilize with special fertilizers for rhododendrons and azaleas. Fully hardy to -29 ° C.
